Tire problem vibration fo 99 Dodge Neon at 50-55 mph

Symptoms:

This tire problem for my 99 Dodge Neon has a steady vibration. It occurs at the front when driven at 50-55 mph. I had a front-end alignment job done on it and the garage tried everything from tire balancing to rotating the tires. They also tried a new set of tires but it did not fix the vibration. They also confirmed that all front-end components are within tolerable limits. Any advice you can give will be appreciated.

Tire Problem Advisor:

The fix for this is rather a little complicated because almost all the bases were already covered. This calls for a different approach and this is what I can advise to you:

Take this car to an alignment shop and tell them:

Put the car on a hoist and see if the vibration can be recreated.
Remove the tires and see if the vibration still remains
Remove the CV joints and leave the inner joints…then run again and see if vibration stops.

If the vibration still remains, it is obvious the problem is in the transaxle. They can then removed it and overhaul the transaxle to fix the problem.

Notes:

Be polite when giving this advice to the alignment shop because most of them don’t like to be told how to do their job.

Above repair is only a recommendation and you do this at your own risk. Always have your vehicle align after replacing the tires to prevent future tire problem.
