Tire blowouts
is a serious problem and it can cause fatal accident but what
tire defect causes them? How do you avoid this problem from
happening?
The
most common cause of tire blowouts is tire separation
Tire separation happens when the upper treads of the tire starts to peel off from the tire belt. This is very common on steel belted radials where rubber and steel belt are bonded together using adhesives to bond them together. When these tires are being used in warm weather, the bond breakdowns if there is a manufacturer’s defect. If used on the vehicle’s rear tires and if this happens at high speed, the separation will cause the driver to loose control.
Why? Because after peeling off, the tires will loose air pressure suddenly. This will cause the vehicle to sway on its side. At high speed, the driver usually will not recover from this sudden motion and can cause the vehicle either to roll over or hit incoming traffic. Almost always this results in fatal accident for the driver, the passenger including other innocent people involved in the accident.
The following causes of tire separation are:
Poor
manufacturing process like improper bonding and curing time.
Low
inflated tire cause by poor maintenance
The only one you can control is maintenance which is done by monitoring your air tire pressure regularly especially before making long trips. This single action alone can pay dividends in making sure that you can arrive safely to your destination and avoid catastrophic accidents.
