Tire problem on 96 Honda Accord that wears the inside edges
Symptoms:
I have no problem driving this car since I bought my 96 Honda Accord
7 years ago but lately,I noticed something weird about the tires. The inside
edges of all the tires are wearing at the same time! Tire rotation
was done only after the first 10,000 miles and nothing after that.
Front-end alignment was regularly done at Honda dealership. I am now
worried sick what is causing these inside edges to wear faster than outside?
Tire Problem Advisor:
From the way you described this problem, it seems like tire rotation is
not properly done during regular intervals (every 5000 miles). It is
also possible that your Honda dealership is not doing its job, which
I find not acceptable. I would suggest you change to another Honda
dealership that can do a better job for you.
Here are other things to consider:
What kind of driving is done on this car? Driving faster than necessary is
also another cause of this problem.
How many drivers are using the car? It is said more drivers generates more
abuse, which results in fast wearing tires.
Notes:
If you are experiencing some shimmy and vibration after a tire and wheel
balancing, Honda recommends an on wheel balancer. This device can further
balance any unbalance weight less than ¼ ounce caused by rotor or hub
imbalance. You can check your Honda dealer for more details.
When in doubt, bring your vehicle to authorized Honda dealer shop.
Above repair is only a recommendation and you do this at your own risk.
Always have your vehicle align after replacing the tires to prevent
repetition of the tire problem.
