Everybody needs this tire
pressure monitoring system to keep your tires in top
shape condition but also protect you from tire blowouts that
can endanger your life.
You
probably heard about the tire accidents that occurred 2-3 years
ago involving a popular SUV. Had those vehicles equipped with
a tire pressure monitoring system, those accidents could have
been prevented because as soon as those tires start to overheat
(which later will cause the tire threads to separate and have
a blowout) the driver could have stopped and checked the tires.
It’s because this tire monitoring system detects both changes
in air pressure and tire temperature while being used in the
road.
So how does this tire pressure monitor
works?
Each wheel is implanted with a transmitter or sensor inside the rim. A separate central receiver is used to gather the signals of the 4 sensors. This receiver also reports independently, the pressure and temperature of each tire. If any of the air pressure or temperature goes out of range, the receiver will relay the message to the driver so he can take appropriate action. The receiver can show this warning thru a display monitor mounted on top of the vehicle’s dash. It could be integrated with the keyless entry circuit system thru the vehicles body computer.
The transmitter itself is made of light material so as not to affect the tire’s balance and it is self-powered using a battery that is designed to last 10 years. It is also sealed to protect itself from the tire’s harsh environment that contains a lot of moisture, heavy vibration and lots of unwanted debris. This is why extra care is required when servicing these rims since the sensors can be easily damaged.
On most vehicles coming out lately, tire monitoring pressure system is becoming a standard option because of the inherent safety that it gives to the driver. If you own a vehicle without one and you care about your family’s safety, you might consider buying this tire pressure monitoring system. Just make sure that the system you buy monitors both tire air pressure and temperature.
